Morning Receptionist

Job summary

Paxton Green Group Practice is looking for a friendly, organised and professional Morning Receptionist to join our supportive and busy GP practice team.

This is a patient-facing role and an important first point of contact for patients. The successful candidate will provide a welcoming, efficient and professional reception service while helping patients access the care and services they need.

We are looking for someone who works well under pressure, communicates clearly and remains calm and courteous in a busy healthcare environment.

Working Hours

The role is 35.5 hours per week (weekdays) + Sat OT occasionally, with the following schedule:

  • Monday: 8:00am 5:30pm
  • Tuesday: 8:00am 1:00pm
  • Wednesday: 8:00am 1:00pm
  • Thursday: 8:00am 5:30pm
  • Friday: 8:00am 5:30pm
  • Saturday: 9.00 - 4.00pm (on a rota with other staff, with enhanced OT pay for Saturday working - this is a key requirement)

Occasional additional weekday hours may be required to support the team when needed & paid as overtime (OT).

Main duties of the job

  • Welcoming patients and visitors to the practice in a polite and professional manner
  • Answering telephone calls and directing patient queries appropriately
  • Booking, cancelling and managing patient appointments
  • Assisting patients to access the appropriate services within the practice
  • Processing patient requests and administrative tasks accurately
  • Communicating effectively with GPs, nurses and the wider multidisciplinary team
  • Managing challenging situations calmly and helping to de-escalate concerns when necessary
  • Supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the reception area
