We are excited to be seeking two experienced Practice Nurses to join our team at the Phoenix Health Group. Innovative and progressive with surgeries across Cirencester and Tetbury, we focus on providing excellent personal care and a holistic approach to medical practice.

Main duties of the job

You will need:

  • Broad knowledge and experience of clinical practice
  • Excellent communication skills, written and oral with the ability to communicate confidently.
  • Flexible to meet the demands of the post and the ability to adapt to a changing environment.
  • Experience in practice nursing, respiratory, diabetic and long-term condition management is desirable but not essential, for the right candidate we can provide the training and support to progress in this career pathway.

Job Summary:

To provide and maintain a high standard of nursing care for patients as well as providing nursing assistance to the doctors and other members of the primary healthcare team. The duties will include all tasks normally undertaken by an experienced RGN, and any roles agreed between the nurse and the doctors as appropriate, having regard to current training.

Professional:

  • Provision of long term condition care for our patients and running a nurse led long term condition clinic with suitable training.
  • Offer advice about childhood and adult vaccinations and ensure vaccines are administered under patient group directions.
  • Offer a holistic approach to travel health by providing comprehensive advice to patients prior to travel including; vaccinations and medicines, safe sex, food hygiene, sun protection.
  • Perform a holistic assessment of patients attending for cervical cytology smear tests and perform cervical cytology when trained.
  • Perform venepuncture according to local guidelines
  • Provide a holistic approach to wound management and implement wound care in line with current evidence based guidelines.
  • Suture /clip removal
  • Zoladex administration when trained.
  • Able to recognize and manage anaphylaxis according to current UK guidelines.
  • Able to perform Cardio-pulmonary resuscitation according to current UK guidelines.
  • Assist in the provision of minor surgery
  • Take a holistic approach to lifestyle advice on diet, smoking, alcohol intake and exercise.
  • Ensures awareness of statutory and local clinical protection procedures, including systems of referral. Ability to recognise signs and symptoms of child abuse.

  • Able to document consultations according to NMC and practice guidelines.
