Job summary
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic Nurse to join our friendly dedicated team at Parks Surgery Limited (Known as Lilford & Pennington Park Surgery) to our patients. Experience in General Practice is desirable but not essential as we will provide full training to enhance your nursing career in General Practice. We have recently secured a place on the Greater Manchester GPN Fellowship Course which is due to start at the end of April 2024. We are a 2 GP Partnership Practice based over 2 sites, both sites are situated within purpose built NHS Medical Centre's, and approximately 1.5 miles distance between our sites. We employ 2 salaried GPs, we are a registered Training Practice and currently have 3 x GP Registrars, 2 Practice Nurses, 1 Health Care Assistant, 1 Practice Manager, 2 Assistant practice Manager's one for each site, and 8 Care Navigators. We also teach Medical Students, We have around 6900 patients and we use TPP (SystmOne) Clinical System, all our patient medical records are fully electronic. The successful applicant will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.

About us
We are a friendly teaching Practice based in Medical Purpose built Health Centre. We have a total 7 GPs (2 Partners, 2 Salaried GPs) and 3 GP Registrars. We have 1 Practice Manager who works over both sites, and 2 Assistant Practice Manager's (1 at each site). We have 2 Practice Nurses, 1 Healthcare Assistant, and 8 Care Navigators. We also have other staff employed by our PCN which includes FCP (First Contact Practitioners), Care Co-Ordinator, Social Prescriber, Practice Pharmacists, Mental Health Practitioners and MH Support staff all attached to our Practice. We are situated close to the town centre of Leigh and there is ample free car parking spaces readily available adjacent to our building. The benefit of working in our Practice is to interact with other HCPs and share good practice with our neighbouring practices, we meet on a regular basis with other practices within Leigh PCN and work collaboratively to achieve the maximum benefit for both our staff and our registered patients. We also try to go out for a practice meal a few times a year to show appreciation to our staff for their hard work over the year.

- To provide and maintain a high standard of nursing care for patients, as well as providing nursing assistance to the doctors and other members of the primary healthcare team. The duties will include all tasks normally undertaken by an experienced RGN and any additional roles agreed between the nurse and the doctors as appropriate, having regard to current training.
- Offer a holistic approach to travel health by providing comprehensive advice to patients prior to travel including; vaccinations and medicines, safe sex, food hygiene, sun protection
- Offer advice about childhood and adult vaccinations and ensure vaccines are administered under patient group directions
- Running well person clinics and health promotion programmes, facilitating change by providing holistic assessment and lifestyle advice on diet, smoking, alcohol intake and exercise
- Assessing problems presented opportunistically by patients, dealing with minor illness.
- Able to document Consultations according to NMC guidelines
- Ensures awareness of statutory and local clinical protection procedures, including systems of referral. Ability to recognise signs and symptoms of child abuse.
- Perform a holistic assessment of patients attending for cervical cytology smear tests.
- Perform venepuncture according to local guidelines
- Able to recognize and manage anaphylaxis according to current UK guidelines
- Able to perform Cardio-pulmonary resuscitation according to current UK guidelines
- Assist in the provision of minor surgery
- Ability to obtain and document informed consent (either verbal or written)
- Ensure infection control guidelines are maintained
- Ability to monitor and manage maintenance of stock and equipment to include refrigeration, and emergency equipment
