Job summary
We have a great opportunity for a reliable and enthusiastic
Referrals Administrator to
join our friendly team. The post holder
will work closely with our Medical Secretaries to ensure that referrals and
other letters are completed efficiently and accurately and are sent to the
appropriate service or health provider.
The
Referrals Administrator will be responsible for formatting and correcting typed
referrals, or referrals generated via a dictation software from the clinical team
and processed within a timely manner.
This
role is a part time position for 30 hours per week and is a great opportunity
for those who already work in a healthcare setting with medical terminology
experience.
Main duties of the job
To
follow practice protocols to ensure consistent and high quality care is
provided to our patients
To
format and correct typed referrals, or referrals generated via the dictation
software
To
type letters, reports and associated documentation as required
To
process referrals via the NHS e-Referral Service, ensuring that referrals are
sent to the correct service in a timely manner
To
be aware of referral pathways and assist the clinicians in ensuring referrals
are made to the most appropriate service
Liaising
with external agencies such as hospitals and community services, ensuring
referrals are processed efficiently
To assist patients with referral queries and
liaising with external agencies such as hospitals, secondary care and community
services to check status of referrals
To
complete tasks sent by the clinical staff relating to letters and referrals
To
receive incoming and initiate outgoing telephone calls in order to facilitate
timely and appropriate communications with others, taking messages and dealing
with appropriate queries
To
provide cover for members of the referral team during periods of sickness and
annual leave
