Job summary

Medical Scanner with progression to a Medical Summariser.

37 hours per week 08:30-16:30 Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Wednesday 08:30-16:00 with half an hour lunch each day.

£12.31 per hour rising to £12.80 after the probation period. £13.00 per hour once fully trained as a Summariser.

We require two additional Medical Scanners to join our Medical Records Team, with progression to a Medical Summariser. Ideally, we are looking for someone with previous medical scanning experience within SystmOne although not essential. You will need to have the ability to work in a methodical manner, having excellent attention to detail to ensure accurate input of medical information and assigning of appropriate codes. The ability to work in a quiet environment is essential. The post is based at Larwood Surgery although you may be required to work at other sites when deemed necessary.

Main duties of the job

  • To scan all medical information and code where protocol allows, medical information from the hospital letters and input into the patient computer record. Adhering to the strict protocols to maintain a fully electronic patient record
  • Upload documents from local hospitals
  • Accurately code relevant diagnoses, procedures, and other clinical information using Read Codes from medical records and correspondence following strict protocols to maintain a fully electronic patient record.
  • Identify and highlight important or urgent clinical information for priority action
  • Drag and drop clinical emails on to the clinical system
  • Ensure documents are correctly attached to the appropriate patient record
  • Task or add to appointment ledgers relevant actions from correspondence or medical records for action by the specific clinician or administrator
  • Open daily post both external and internal, distributing where appropriate
  • Report any data discrepancies or clinical concerns promptly to relevant staff
