Job summary

Mendip Vale Medical Group (MVMG) are looking for a Business Manager to join our existing team as we expand in our friendly and innovative practices serving over 80,000 patients within our 8 sites in North Somerset, Bristol & South Gloucester.

You will be working with a friendly and knowledgeable team, undertaking a variety of tasks to support MVMGmeet its agreed aims and objectives within a sustainable, efficient, safe and effective working environment

Main duties of the job

As the Business Manager for North Somerset you will provide lead and manage the Business Support team to enable Mendip Vale Medical Group (MVMG) to meet its agreed aims and objectives.

Supporting the delivery of safe and effective care by utilising business Intelligence and a digital first process, as well as ensuring our team is able to engage vulnerable and hard to reach patients, with timely and helpful information.

With a team of over 300 Mendip Vale Medical Group (MVMG) delivers a Partner led service across North Somerset, Bristol and South Gloucester (BNSSG). Serving around 80,000 patients across 8 sites we have a high calibre workforce delivering innovative care.

Changes made from merging and working more effectively have enabled us to make investment into our buildings. The Langford site is an impressive modern facility, purpose built in 2013, with great parking and equipment. The St Georges site is a wonderful 2012 purpose built surgery with all the facilities required to make the working environment enjoyable. Sunnyside Surgery is well placed in Clevedon with an attached pharmacy, serving patients living in Clevedon and the surrounding villages, as is our Sea Mills Surgery in Bristol. We have recently extended our Monks Park site and completed a full refurbishment of the Yatton surgery with the latest design fit for the provision of modern health care. Our Coniston surgery is about to undergo an extension and refurbishment which makes our estate one of the newest and brightest in the southwest.

Job responsibilities

Working in conjunction with the Business Support Team, you will provide leadership and management skills to enable Mendip Vale Medical Group (MVMG) to meet its agreed aims and objectives within a sustainable, efficient, safe and effective working environment. The Business Manager will support the delivery of safe and effective care by utilising business Intelligence and a Digital First process. Providing our teams with the information to help them reach vulnerable and hard to reach patients, with timely and usable information.

The Business Manager will develop good working relationships with:

  • Executive Team, Partnersand the Management team

  • Our clinicians and the wider MVMG team

  • Key stakeholders across the whole of BNSSG

Key Responsibilities:

  • To undertake, maintain and develop regular and ad-hoc reports using Ardens and other systems

  • To understand and interpret complex information requirements, assess the purpose for which the information is required and develop and deliver appropriate solutions.

  • To analyse complex data and ensuring the presentation is relevant, comprehensive and conforms to agreed timescales.

  • To plan and organise workloads to ensure deadlines are met for statutory, regular and ad-hoc requests.

  • To proactively improve methods of data extraction, manipulation, analysis and presentation.

  • Develop new and existing systems, define and evaluate alternative options.

  • To proactively analyse and present complex information to business functions, using data to drive decision making across the organisation.

  • To provide relevant data or information, as required, at short notice that is of a satisfactory accurate level.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Knowledge of local, regional, and national developments in relation to Health & Justice, Sexual Health, and Substance Misuse information systems to ensure accurate and relevant data is collected and reported.

  • Support Surgery Managers, Divisional Directors, and colleagues to enable them to utilise data reported via reporting scorecards.

  • To undertake a variety of other complex information retrieval and reporting duties.

  • To carry out staff appraisals of direct line reports, and implement personal development plans to ensure that training and development opportunities are made available for the teams within the post holders span of control.

  • To ensure regular communication updates are understood by the staff in the Surgery.

  • To undertake any other duties commensurate with the post holders role as agreed with the Divisional Director or Senior Management Team.

  • Attending training and events organised by the Surgery or other agencies, where appropriate.

Essential

  • Education to Degree Standard or equivalent management experience
  • Evidence of continued learning/personal development in relevant field

Desirable

  • Project Management PRINCEII qualification

  • Clear understanding of, and knowledge about, information and information technology requirements as applicable to a large multifaceted, multi-site organisation.
  • In depth knowledge of national policies and procedures across Health and Care and its local implementation or application.
  • Specialist knowledge and experience in using clinical reporting systems or MS Power Bi.

  • Experience of developing and overseeing implementation of service delivery policies and procedures
  • A demonstrable understanding of Information Governance
