Job summary

Mendip Vale Medical Group (MVMG) are looking for a further Practice Nurse to join our existing team as we continue to expand in our friendly and innovative practices in Bristol, North Somerset & South Gloucester.

You will be working with a friendly and knowledgeable team, undertaking a variety of nursing assessments and providing appropriate care and treatment in conjuction with GP's and other clinical staff.

Main duties of the job

The post holder should be passionate about providing a high standard of patient care; focusing on improving patients health outcomes in the assessment, diagnosis, treatment and management of patients within their care, whilst working collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary Surgery team to meet the needs of patients.

Job responsibilities

The post holder should be passionate about delivering a high standard of patient care as a Nurse in general practice, assisting in and perform routine tasks related to patient care, such as advising patients on general healthcare and minor ailments with referral toGPs as necessary.

There is a requirement to demonstrate and provide specific evidence based practical skills and knowledge in the following areas, (or have a willingness to train towards being able to competently carry out the following):

Cytology and sexual health screening

Travel Health

Wound care, including support for the Leg Club initiative

Removal of sutures

ECGs

Review and Management of Chronic Diseases such as Asthma, Diabetes, COPD

Spirometry

Hypertension management

Contraception

Routine immunisations / child immunisations

Educating and working with patients in order to support compliance with, and adherence to prescribed treatments is an essential part of the role, as well as supporting patients to adopt health promotion strategies that promote healthy lifestyles.

Essential

  • Experience of treatment room services such as wound care, immunisations, travel health, cytology and sexual health screening or a willingness learn.
