Job summary
An opportunity has arisen to recruit an experienced medical receptionist within Cwm Gwyrdd Medical Centre in Gilfach Goch. The role is a fixed term post for 22.5 hours per week for 10 months. Starting from Monday 14th March 2025. Working hours will be:
Monday 8.30am - 1.00pm
Tuesday 8.30am - 12.30pm
Wednesday 8.30am - 2.30pm
Thursday 8.30am - 12.30pm
Friday 8.30am - 12.30pm
The ideal candidate should have experience as a receptionist within the medical sector and familiarity with Vision is preferable but not essential.
Main duties of the job
Managing patient databases. Greeting and dealing with patients. Booking appointments and diary management. Managing telephone switchboards. Read coding. Processing prescriptions. Scanning. Completing clinicians tasks. Please see attached job description for further information.

We have 5 GP partners, 3 salaried GP's, 1 ANP, 2 practice nurses, 3 HCSW, 1 phlebotomists, Practice pharmacist and cluster pharmacist,10 administrators, Deputy Manager and a Practice manager.

- Maintaining and monitoring the Practice appointments system
- Processing personal and telephone requests for appointments, visits and telephone consultations and ensuring callers are directed to the appropriate healthcare professional
- Processing and distributing incoming (and outgoing) mail
- Taking messages and passing on information
- Filing and retrieving paperwork
- Processing repeat prescriptions in accordance with Practice guidelines
- Computer data entry/data allocation and collation; processing and recording information in accordance with Practice procedures
- Initiating contact with and responding to requests from patients, other team member and associated healthcare agencies and providers
- Clearing and re-stock consulting rooms as required
- Providing clerical assistance to Practice and Trust staff as required from time to time,including word/data processing, filing, photocopying and scanning
- Ordering, re-ordering and monitoring of stationery and other supplies
- Dealing with clinical waste
- Keeping the reception area, notice-boards and leaflet dispensers tidy and free from obstructions and clutter
