Main duties of the job
Duties will include
Greeting patients on arrival ensuring patients are checked in manually
To answer the telephone, dealing with enquiries and signposting patients to necessary services.
Make appointments, including telephone, follow-up, and urgent appointments
Responsible for dealing with messages from patients/clinicians or external bodies. To take appropriate action where required
Record requests for home visits and ensure that they are recorded and passed onto duty doctor on call
Safe handling of patient files, maintaining confidentiality at all times
Scan hospital reports and letters, ensuring that the scanning of patients correspondence is kept up to date at all times
To carry out patient/GP Registrar surveys
To be responsible for the call and recall of patient lists as instructed by the practice manager
The ideal candidate will:
- Have had previous reception experience, preferably in a Primary Care setting
- Be able to work as part of a team, with individual responsibilities, maintaining a high level of professionalism
- Be able to listen, empathise with, and support people from all backgrounds and communities, creating trust and confidence
- Communicate effectively in oral and written format with patients, their families, medical staff, and other members of the team
- Be able to prioritise and plan actions, using own initiative when under pressure
- Be able to deal with difficult and emergency situations in a professional and calm manner
About us
The Ryan Medical Centre is located in the heart of Bamber Bridge. Our team consists of 5 GP Partners, 1 Salaried GP, 1 Retainer GP, 1 ACP, 2 Practice Nurses, and 2 Healthcare Assistants. We are supported by a strong and experienced Reception and Administration team, as well as an independent Prescriptions team.
