Arbury Road GP surgery are looking for a Practice Nurse to work 28.5 hours per week over 3 days Tuesday, Thursday and Friday
Our Practice Nurses are supported by our Lead Nurse and deliver nursing services within the boundaries of their scope of practice to the practice population.
The Practice Nurses are responsible for several clinical areas such as health promotion, chronic disease management, health prevention, national screening programmes, wound assessments and dressings, venepuncture, ordering, stock control, maintenance and cleaning of equipment, stocking clinical rooms.
We are looking for a motivated team player who is organised, enthusiastic and patient-focused with a can-do attitude and friendly personality.
We would be particularly interested in a Nurse who has previous Diabetes experience or training, or would be willing to undertake training/qualification in this area.

- Assist in and perform routine tasks related to patient care as directed by GPs
- Cytology
- Wound care / ulcer care/ Doppler
- Removal of Sutures / clips
- New Patient Medicals / Urinalysis
- ECGs
- Asthma / Peak Flow Readings / Spirometry
- Venepuncture
- Hypertension Management
- Ear syringing
- Assessing problems presented opportunistically by patients.
- Ensures awareness of statutory and local clinical protection procedures in relation to the safeguarding of children and adults. Ability to recognise signs and symptoms of child abuse.
- Routine immunisations / Childhood immunisations
- Assisting GPs with minor surgery and coil fittings
- Requesting pathology tests, for example urine culture, swabs
- Managing programmes of care for patients with chronic disease by planning, providing and evaluating care under agreed guidelines, protocols and patient group directions.
- Maintaining and cleaning equipment used by the nurses and GPs
- Maintaining GP and Nurses rooms, stocking and rotating items as required
- Ordering of vaccinations to maintain stock levels
- LTMC. Identifying and inviting patients with LTMC in to the surgery for reviews.

- Ordering of vaccinations to maintain stock levels
- Participation in administrative systems in the Practice
- At all times there will be a need to maintain accurate records using SystmOne.
- A duty to advise senior nurses of potential problems or errors within the range of assigned tasks
- LTMC. Identifying and inviting patients with LTMC in to the surgery for reviews.
- Attend and participate in any Practice meetings when required.
