Job description

Job responsibilities

To work as an autonomous practitioner, responsible for the provision of medical services to the practice population, delivering an excellent standard of clinical care whilst complying with the PMS contract. Furthermore, the post-holder will adhere to the GMC standards for good medical practice, contributing to the effective management of the practice, leading by example, maintaining a positive, collaborative working relationship with the multidisciplinary team.

A standard day starts with the morning huddle at 8.15am which offers the opportunity to share news and information with colleagues whilst ensuring that any updates are communicated in a timely manner.

A morning session commences at 8.30am and currently comprises of 16 x 10minute appointments and 2x 10 minute admin slots.

An afternoon session commences at 3pm and comprises of 14 x10 minute appointments plus one 10 minute admin slot.

Appointments are a mixture of face to face and telephone with a careful balance of routine, pre-booked appointments and urgent on the day appointments.

You will also be expected to do a share of on-call shifts proportionate to the number of sessions that you work. The on-call doctor manages the total triage process for that day, working closely with our reception team to ensure that all patient contacts are managed appropriately and in line with clinical need to provide a suitable next step - whether that be signposting to other services or enabling them to book with a GP.

These configurations may change in future in line with business needs or any changes to the GP contract.
