The Greyswood Practice is looking for a motivated and conscientious Health Care Assistant to join our vibrant, hardworking Team.
As part of our nursing and HCA team, the Healthcare Assistant (HCA) will deliver care within the boundaries of their role and in accordance with specific practice guidelines and protocols. You will be able to demonstrate clinical thinking and skills in clinical decision making within the limits of your qualifications and the role requirements.
The role is for three or four days per week, worked across Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 8am- 6.30pm with various working patterns / hours considered.

Main duties of the job
Essential:
- Updating patient records on EMIS, managing patient paperwork, making internal referrals/ tasks to ensure that patient care is joined up within the practice
- Phlebotomy including use of T-Quest and EMIS to identify required tests.
- BP monitoring / Temperature and Pulse recording /Urinalysis / NHS Health Checks / ECGs
- Provide health promotion and lifestyle advice to patients and be familiar with services provided by relevant local and community organisations
- Weight monitoring
- Stock taking/ ordering
- Room stocking
- 24 hour blood pressure monitoring - fitting machines and uploading results
Desirable:
- Stitch removal/ Minor dressings
- Act as a chaperone during patient consultations
- Instruct patients in appropriate techniques or tasks
- Management of Long Term Conditions Diabetes/Asthma/COPD/Hypertension
- Administration of intramuscular injections, including flu and COVID vaccinations

You will work with your clinical and administrative colleagues to ensure that patients with chronic conditions eg hypertension, diabetes etc are being proactively monitored and managed through appropriate pathways.
