Main duties of the job

We are looking for an enthusiastic receptionist/care navigator to join our busy, friendly and well-organised practice. Hours - Monday to Friday between the hours of 7.45am & 6.00pm, with the occasional Saturday morning as per rota. Additional cover for holidays and sickness is essential. You will need to be flexible, responding to varying demands and changing circumstances as the practice develops. The ideal candidate would need to have excellent communication and keyboard skills and must be a team player. Experience would be an advantage although full training will be given.

About us

Working out of two purpose-built surgeries, we have very modern and well-equipped rooms. Our receptionist are the welcoming face of the practice and an essential part of the team. We are a very tight knit group, and all the staff are key team members and are very well looked after both on a personal and business level, even supplied with regular cups of tea and coffee plus the occasional slice of cake!

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Making appointments/Care Navigation by telephone and face to face
  • Greet and direct patients and visitors
  • Deal with general enquiries
  • Taking requests for prescriptions
  • Handing out prescriptions
  • Respond to requests for test results, in line with practice protocol
  • Home visit requests
  • Contacting other providers
  • Register new patients and temporary residents
  • Ensure outstanding queries are explained and handed over to next shift, as necessary
  • Respond to needs of the clinical team during surgery
  • Collect payments from patients for non-NHS services
  • Input and extract information from Practice computer system
  • Observe health and safety guidelines at all times
  • Any other reasonable duties as necessary

Qualifications

Essential

  • Educated to GSCE level or Equivalent (English & Maths)
  • Sound written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office Package)
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment
