Experienced Medical Receptionist x2

Longview Medical Centre is looking to recruit two experienced Part Time Medical Receptionists to join our friendly supportive team. One post is for 35 Hours per week and one post for 25 hours per week. Rate of pay, £12.71 p/h.Monday to Friday between the hours of 8:00-18:30.

Experience in Primary Care is essential.

Applicants must have Emis Web experience and should be computer literate. You will need to work unsupervised so the ability to use your own initiative and prioritise your work is essential.

You must be flexible to cover holidays and staff sickness as and when required.

The post is a permanent position, subject to satisfactory references, required employment checks appropriate to the post and a successful 12 month probationary period.

Main duties of the job

To provide an efficient helpful receptionist service to the GP Practice and ensure that service data is collected, stored, maintained and retrieved effectively whilst continually providing patient confidentiality.

Use computerised appointment system and other systems such as Docman, PATCHS, Gateway, e-RS and ICE.

Ensuring that the reception area is left tidy and ready for use by incoming colleagues together with any information about unresolved or urgent matters

Overview of your organisation

Two GP Partners, GP Registrar, Practice Nurse, Advanced Nurse Practitioner, Clinical Pharmacist, Practice Manager, Reception Manager and a team of administrators.

Main duties of the job

All front desk GP admin duties such as dealing with patient queries, both in person and over the telephone, making appointments, preparing prescriptions, dealing with incoming mail and distributing accordingly.

Generating referrals as per the instructions from clinicians.

Scanning and coding of patient letters.

Actioning internal tasks in a timely manner.

Liaising with internal and external colleagues such as community nurses, partner services, local hospitals etc.

Ensuring mandatory training is kept up to date.

GP Practice in Huyton, Knowsley serving approximately 4000 patients. We are a training practice responsible for training GP's.

Full multidisciplinary team of clinicians and non clinical staff.

Summary of Duties

To provide an efficient helpful Reception service to the Practice and ensure that Practice data is collected, stored, maintained and retrieved effectively whilst continually providing patient confidentiality.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Reception and routing of patients on arrival

  • Answering general enquiries, making new and follow-up appointments and generally advising patients on non clinical matters

  • Use computerised appointment system as per training

  • Sorting and distributing incoming mail

  • Ensure Doctor/Nurse patient call system is in working order

  • Record requests for home visits

  • Ensuring an adequate supply of stationary etc in the consulting rooms and reception area

  • Receiving samples, logging and ensuring the correct forms accompany them to the laboratory

  • Receiving and recording telephone messages for the Doctors and Nurses

  • Taking request for repeat prescriptions and preparing them on the computer for collection

  • Dealing appropriately with outgoing mail

  • Liaison with hospitals, primary health care team, community services and social services

  • Using photocopier machine when necessary

  • Ensuring that the reception area is left tidy and ready for use by incoming colleagues together with any information about unresolved or urgent matters

  • Cover other members of staff during holiday or sick leave
