Job summary

A full time Healthcare Assistant Vacancy has become available to join our friendly team at Royston Group Practice.

You will be a vital part of the team that will support the medical staff and patients at our surgery.

You will work closely with our qualified nurses, carrying out a wide range of duties to care for, support, preventative care, health promotion and patient education.

Main duties of the job

  • Carry out ECGs as requested
  • Administer B12 vaccinations
  • Support the practice nurse with health promotion programmes
  • Carry out baseline observations such as pulse oximetry, blood pressure, temperature, pulse rate, recording findings accurately
  • Facilitate routine and 24-hour BP monitoring, advising patients accordingly
  • Support the practice nurse with the management of chronic disease clinics
  • Carry out BMI checks as directed
  • Act as a chaperone as required
  • When trained, administer flu vaccinations
  • Ensure specimens are recorded and ready for onward transportation
  • Ensure clinical waste is removed from clinical areas and sharps bins replaced in accordance with the practice IPC policy
  • Deliver opportunistic health promotion where appropriate

Supported by the nursing team within the practice, the Health Care Assistant (HCA) will deliver care within the boundaries of their role and in accordance with specific practice guidelines and protocols.   • New patient medicals including height, weight, BP, pulse
  • Ability to record accurate clinical notes

Experience

Essential

  • 6 months relevant experience working in a primary care environment in the last 2 years
  • Experience of working with the general public
  • Experience of working in a healthcare setting

Desirable

  • Experience in working in a GP Practice
