Job summary

3 to 4 month GP Maternity Cover 4-6 sessions a week from April 2025

We are a friendly, well-respected practice in Jericho just to the north of the centre of Oxford, with a practice population of approximately 12,800 patients. The practice is regularly voted one of the top practices in Oxford. We are situated in a bright new building, with excellent facilities and all the joys of Oxford right on our doorstep. There is on-site parking and excellent public transport facilities.

We are looking for a GP to cover maternity leave for 4 months, starting sometime in April or May doing 4 to 6 sessions a week, with some flexibility over timings for the right candidate

This is a great opportunity for someone recently qualified and looking to get a taster of salaried work, or someone looking to secure a period of more settled work after a period of locuming. Salary will be dependent on experience but will reflect the shorter-term nature of the role.

Main duties of the job

On top of the usual duties of a GP, as a salaried GP, you will be expected to look after a patient list of 250 patients per session worked. Observatory Medical Practice run a Duty Doctor system with 2 DDs on on a Monday and one each other day. The 10 GPs working here pro rata this depending on how many sessions they work and you will be expected to partake in this. We are a covid vaccination centre and all GPs partake in some of the weekend seasonal vaccination campaigns ( for which you are paid overtime ) but beyond that, there is no weekend or enhanced hour requirements

Salary will be very competitive and dependant on experience.
