Job summary

We are looking for a skilled and compassionate Phlebotomist to join our friendly team. The successful candidate will provide high-quality phlebotomy services to patients, working alongside our nurses, healthcare assistants, and GPs to support effective clinical care.

Main duties of the job

  • Undertaking venepuncture for patients in accordance with clinical protocols.

  • Ensuring accurate patient identification, specimen labelling, and documentation.

  • Preparing and dispatching samples to laboratories following infection control and data protection policies.

  • Maintaining equipment and stock levels in the treatment area.

  • Providing a reassuring and professional service to patients at all times.

    • Experienced in phlebotomy including taking blood samples from patients who are more difficult to bleed.

    Desirable

    • Experience of working in GP practice

    Qualifications

    • Qualified and experienced in phlebotomy
    • Punctual, well-organised, and able to manage time effectively to maintain smooth patient flow
    • Knowledgeable in infection prevention, health and safety, and confidentiality standards

    Desirable

    • Ability to take blood samples from older children (aged 14+)
    • Previous experience in a GP surgery or NHS environment is desirable but not essential.
