Job summary

Hatters Health PCN is looking to develop our multi-disciplinary team with the addition of GPAs. Are you looking to join a dynamic team working to support a diverse range of people from different cultural and social backgrounds?

General Practice Assistants (GPAs) form part of a multi-disciplinary team within Primary Care and provide a support role. Undertaking administrative tasks, combined with some basic clinical duties. Contributing to the smooth running of appointments and improving patient experience by freeing up clinical staff time to focus on the patients clinical needs. Supporting the development of processes to enable delivery of a PCN level administration function for patient queries.

Main duties of the job

Supporting the flow of administrative requests

Supporting the development and delivery of PCN level administrative functions

Supporting clinical navigation by signposting requests to Additional Roles staff and other community providers.

Extracting all relevant information from clinical letters that needs coding and adding to notes.

Arranging appointments, referrals, tests and follow up appointments of patients.

Dipping urine, taking blood pressure, ECGs & phlebotomy, chaperoning.

Completing basic (non-opinion) forms and core elements of some forms for the GP to approve and sign such as insurance forms, mortgage, benefits agency forms etc.

Helping practice and PCN staff liaise with outside agencies.

Attend all relevant annual updates

Inform the lead GP of any concerns regarding GPA role and any professional development needed
