Job summary

Saltscar Surgery has an opening for an experienced medical receptionist / medical reception supervisor.

Saltscar has a growing practice list size of over 8500 patients, we are a busy practice using TPP SystmOne clinical computer system, we are a member of Redcar Coastal PCN and ELM Alliance.

We are looking for experienced medical receptionist to join our team, who can manage a busy reception environment with advanced skills to support the reception team with sound leadership, problem solving and excellent time management.

Main duties of the job

Day to day reception duties including face to face contact, telephone and electronic communications

Holding and leading reception team meetings

A key role is the management of the reception staff weekly rota, reception annual leave requests and updating protocols including Care Navigation.

About us

Saltscar is a busy general practice supported by 5 GP'S, a team of Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Nurses and Health care worker along with a strong administration and reception team. The practice is supported and lead by a Practice Manager and Deputy Manager.

We have an active patient group who meet regularly at the practice and support the patients and practice to improve patient care and services.

Job responsibilities

Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills and Expertise Required

Good standard of education

Good general English

RSA 2 Typewriting or equivalent

AMSPAR/NVQ Qualification

Recognised Team Leader/First Line Management qualification

Experience working in General Practice for a minimum of 2 years. To advise and instruct reception staff on general, procedural and operational issues. The post holder will have recognised authority within the practice for this area of work. Identified areas of work include, workload, guidance, and quality issues.

To adopt, maintain and develop new and existing office procedures and protocols to ensure the smooth and efficient handling of information within the practice

To be involved with achieving practice based targets set at both local and national levels and to delegate appropriate tasks to ensure completion as necessary.

To be the first line contact for reception staff for key patient or operational queries

To communicate with the team through team meetings and briefings

The post holder will frequently deal with highly sensitive information and therefore a high degree of confidentiality is required.

To provide assistance and support to reception team in resolving patient complaints, queries or dissatisfaction effectively and in timely manner

To mentor and support the training of Apprentices or new members to the team in the use of the Practice clinical computer system and practice protocol
