Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity available within our Reception Team at Evelyn Medical Centre, this role is for 25hours per week, working over four days.

As a receptionist you will have busy but varied days assisting in the smooth running of the practice and maintaining our high standards of customer service. You will be well supported by a friendly team, a lovely view from our office, and of course a good cup of tea!

Working Hours:

Monday: N/A

Tuesday: 13.30-18.30

Wednesday: 13.30-18.30

Thursday: 13.30-18.30

Friday: 8.00-18.30

Main duties of the job

It is the responsibility of each receptionist to assist in the smooth running of the Practice in general, and the reception area, and to project a positive and friendly image to our patients and other professionals who may contact us either in person, via email or via telephone.

To facilitate patients accessing the clinical care provided by the practice.

To support the GPs and Nurses in providing that care.

To act as first point of contact for anyone accessing the practice

Job description

Job responsibilities

The following are the core responsibilities of the Receptionist. There may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out other asks. This will be dependant upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:

Maintain and monitor the practice appointment system.

Process personal, telephone and e-requests for appointments.

Answer incoming phone calls, transferring calls or dealing with callers' requests appropriately.

Signpost patients to the correct service.

Initiating contact with responding to, requests from patients, team members and external agencies.

Clinically code data on EMIS.

Photocopy documentation as required.

Data entry of new and temporary registrations and relevant patient information as required.

Input data into patients' healthcare records as necessary.

Direct request for information, i.e., SAR, insurance/solicitors' letters and DVLA forms to the administrative team.

Manage all queries as necessary in an efficient manner.

Maintain a clean, tide, effective working area at all times.

Monitor and maintain the reception area and notice boards.

Support clinical staff with general tasks as requested.

Support administrative staff, providing cover during staff absences.

Action incoming emails and correspondents as necessary.

Scan patient related documentation and attach scanned documents to patients' healthcare records.

Complete opening and closing procedures in accordance with the duty rota.

As required support Dispensary in the management of repeat prescriptions, ensuring they are processed and accurately and efficiently.

  • AMSPAR Receptionist qualification NVQ Level 2 in Health and social care
