Job summary

We are a busy, well-organised independent GP surgery in Ammanford looking for a motivated and experienced Pharmacy Technician to join our clinical team.

The successful candidate will play a key role in medicines optimisation, patient safety and prescribing efficiency. Youll work closely with our GPs, pharmacists and nursing team to deliver high-quality, patient-centred care - including running clinics, managing prescription queries, and supporting audits and quality improvement work.

This role offers the opportunity to develop new skills, take ownership of key areas such as medicines reconciliation and shared-care monitoring, and contribute to training within the practice.

Main duties of the job

  • Support safe and effective prescribing across the practice.

  • Complete medicines reconciliation for hospital discharges, new patients and care homes.

  • Run new patient and DOAC clinics, providing direct patient support.

  • Manage repeat prescription reauthorisations within agreed protocols.

  • Handle pharmaceutical queries, shared care monitoring, and HRT review forms.

  • Assist with acute medication requests and care home medication reviews.

  • Contribute to medication audits, quality improvement projects, and prescribing safety work.

  • Provide training and support to trainee pharmacists and prescription clerks.

  • Liaise with GPs, nurses, and local pharmacies to ensure continuity of care.

  • Maintain accurate records and uphold GPhC professional standards.
