Job summary

The service provides essential additional capacity to the Urgent, on the day services offered across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough. Currently there are daily presentations at A&E departments, across all the acute providers that could be dealt with by clinicians in the community. The role of this team is to provide that urgent on the day service that reduces pressures on A&E and the ambulance services and keeps patients out of hospital and safe in the community. This service is offered out of 3 locations (Peterborough, Hinchingbrooke and Sawston) across the county to make it accessible to all.

This service is 8am 8pm 7 days per week.

Main duties of the job

The purpose of the role is to

Offer general assistance to the team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone

Receive, assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way

Undertake a variety of administrative duties to assist in the smooth running of the service including the provision of clerical support to clinical staff and other members of the team

Facilitate effective communication between patients, members of the primary health care team, secondary care and other associated healthcare agencies

We are looking for someone to be based primarily at Sawston but with some flexibility to travel to cover shifts Hinchingbrooke and Peterborough as and when required.
