Role Details:

  • 30 - 37.5 hours per week over 4 or 5 days
  • Shift patterns to be agreed with the successful candidate

Main duties of the job

As Assistant to the Practice Manager, youll play a vital role in helping lead our practice to success. Working closely with the Practice Manager, youll help create a positive, efficient, and safe environment ensuring our services consistently meet the needs of our patients and community. Your support will be key to driving high standards, continuous improvement, and outstanding patient care across all aspects of the practice.

Sett Valley Medical Centre is a vibrant, semi-rural practice led by three partners, caring for a welcoming community of around 10,000 patients. Nestled in the beautiful High Peak of Derbyshire, right on the edge of the Peak District National Park, our location offers the perfect blend of countryside charm and easy access to Stockport and Manchester via excellent road and rail links.

Job responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Practice Manager with projects, systems, procedures, and day-to-day operations.
  • Coordinate meetings, prepare agendas, and produce minutes.
  • Oversee diary management, staff rotas, and annual leave.
  • Provide administrative support for compliance, HR, and finance (including invoices and petty cash).
  • Assist with marketing, website, social media, and drafting the quarterly newsletter.
  • Organise Patient Participation Group (PPG) meetings and monitor patient feedback.
  • Set and monitor performance targets, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Support clinical staff with general administrative tasks and provide reception/administration cover as needed.
  • Assist with CQC preparations, audits, referrals, and quality indicator reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation and building maintenance.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to data protection regulations.
  • Participate in training, appraisals, and personal development activities.
