Main duties of the job

As a Registered Nurse Practitioner you will be expected to be able to perform core clinical nurse practitioner responsibilities. This role is varied and interesting and covers long term conditions along with general practice nurse duties, training and support will be given.

What We Are Looking For

  • Qualified and registered Prescribing Nurse Practitioner

  • Delivering a high standard of patient care, using advanced, autonomous clinical skills and a broad in-depth theoretical knowledge-base.

  • Assessing, diagnosing and treating patients with both minor and complex needs, initiating referrals as appropriate and planning clinical care accordingly.
  • Performing safe triage of patients when necessary via telephone or face to face.
  • Prescribing medication (if qualified) appropriate to patient needs and in accordance with evidence-based practice and national and practice protocols, and within scope of practice.
  • Providing information and advice on prescribed or over-the-counter medication on medication regimens, side-effects and interactions.
  • Prioritising health problems and intervene appropriately to assist the patient in complex, urgent or emergency situations, including initiation of effective emergency care.
  • Supporting patients to adopt health promotion strategies that promote healthy lifestyles, and apply principles of self-care where appropriate.
  • Providing leadership, education and training to other healthcare professionals and staff.

Oakfields Health Group is a 2-Partner dispensing practice with 2 sites at Hamsterley Colliery and Dipton providing excellent quality healthcare to 7700 patients. We are semi-rural, located in a beautiful part of the region where Gateshead meets Northumberland and County Durham. We have excellent transport links from the A1.

Our clinical team includes salaried GPs and a nursing team of nurse practitioners, practice nurses and healthcare assistants. The clinical team is supported by experienced administrative and managerial teams and we work closely with our PCN colleagues. We benefit from having a pharmacist, pharmacy technician, GP assistant as well as having access to First Contact Services.

  • Independent Prescriber qualification
