Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Lead Nurse to join our friendly, well-organised, forward thinking practice. We are looking for an experienced Practice Nurse to join our Nursing team to provide a high quality service to the practice patients as well as working effectively with other agencies. This will include supervising and assessing staff performance and development, providing effective and dynamic leadership and management skills , management of chronic diseases, immunisations and health screening.

Main duties of the job

Working in accordance with the NMC Code of Conduct, the post-holder will lead and develop the practice nursing team in the provision of assessment, treatment, screening, health education services and advice to patients. Ensure the nursing team deliver a high standard of care to the patients of the surgery. The post-holder will develop practice-agreed protocols and guidelines to provide nursing treatments to patients both independently and in participation with nurse colleagues and general practitioners. The post-holder will have the required level of training and competence and will work within patient group directions where these are available. A nurse with prescribing qualifications will use them appropriately. Provide leadership in the practices fulfilment of Quality Outcomes Framework and local schemes.

About us

Lofthouse Surgery and The Manse is a busy practice working across two sites with over 11,500 patients in Lofthouse and Rothwell. Our team consists of 6 GP partners, 2 salaried GP's. We have an experienced nursing team consisting of 3 Practice Nurses and 3 HCA's. We also host a number of PCN staff including FCP's, Phlebotomists, Admiral Nurses, Health and Wellbeing Coaches and Pharmacists. We aim to provide a high quality healthcare service delivered in a friendly and courteous manner, with patients scoring us above both local and national averages in the 2021 GP patient survey.

  • Enable the nursing team to work effectively and provide a high-quality service to patients and to work effectively with other agencies.
  • Identify the workforce that is required to provide services to meet the needs of the patient population and negotiate with the practice management team for this workforce
  • Lead and monitor the development and implementation of policies, standards and guidelines across the practice nursing team
