Job summary
We are seeking a Prescription Clerk/Officer to join our Medication Management Team, working across our Immingham and Grimsby locations. This is a part-time position, covering Wednesday to Friday (16 hours per week), with additional hours required to provide holiday and sickness cover as needed.
Main duties of the job
As a Prescription Clerk/Officer, you will play a key role in ensuring the safe, accurate, and timely processing of prescriptions within the practice. Your duties will include managing incoming prescription requests across a range of communication channels, generating prescriptions for GP approval, and ensuring they are processed within agreed timeframes. You will maintain accurate patient records, communicate with patients to promote appropriate and timely medication ordering, and support medication reconciliation processes. Working closely with our Pharmacy Technicians and Clinical Pharmacist teams, you will also assist in arranging medication reviews and contributing to the overall quality and safety of our prescribing services.

The role is responsible for managing and processing patient prescriptions in line with the practices Standard Operating Procedures, ensuring a safe, accurate, and efficient workflow. You will liaise closely with our Pharmacy Technicians, Clinical Pharmacists, and community pharmacy teams to support effective medication management.
Key responsibilities include highlighting any issues or queries related to repeat prescriptions to the Medication Management Team and ensuring appropriate follow-up actions are taken. You will also monitor medication review dates, confirming that reviews are completed when due and escalating any overdue reviews to the relevant teams.
Additionally, you will handle prescription-related queries from a wide range of healthcare professionals, including GPs, nurse prescribers, hospital outpatient teams and consultants, community pharmacists, community nursing teams, carers, care homes, and internal reception/administration staff.
