Hours: 15 hours Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday 8am-1pm

Salary: To be discussed

Due to retirement West Bridgford Medical Centre require a Phlebotomist/HCA for 15 hours per week to join their clinical team. We are offering a competitive salary depending on experience.

You will form part of an already established team with strong GP, nursing and administrative support. The ability to take bloods is essential. However clinical system experience is desirable but not essential as training will be provided for the right candidate.

Main duties of the job

We are a small, friendly and welcoming 2 partner practice situated on Musters Road in West Bridgford, Nottingham, close to the amenities of West Bridgford Centre.

Our current practice list comprises of approximately 5100 patients and we have a predominately working age population. We strive to supply quality Primary Care health services to our patients in conjunction with our NHS partners and be responsive and proactive to the needs of our patients.

To provide a high quality care service based on the needs of the Practice population which includes treatment, screening, preventative care and patient education by assisting the practice clinical team in the provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of patient care.

Duties and Responsibilities

Clinical

Phlebotomy - Essential

Blood pressure check

Patient health checks

Chaperoning duties

Processing and management of laboratory samples requested by GPs/nurses

Cleansing and maintenance of surgical equipment

Vaccine/cold chain storage, monitoring and recording

Surgical equipment and re-stocking and stock rotation (excluding vaccines)

Clearing and re-stocking consulting rooms

Preparing and maintaining environments and equipment before, during and after patient care

Assisting in the assessment and surveillance of patients health and well-being

Undertaking specific clinical activities for named patients that have been delegated and taught specifically in relation to that individual

Helping to raise awareness of health and well-being and how it can be promoted

Assisting with the collection and collation of data on needs related to health and wellbeing

Any other duties for which you have undertaken training and peer supervision e.g flu vaccinations, pneumonia and B12 vaccinations, dietary advice and dressings, ECGs.

Administration

To maintain accurate patient records and enter onto the computer using agreed Read Codes

Ensure accurate completion of all necessary documentation associated with patient health care

General

To maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for all PHCT staff, patients, carers and co-workers from other agencies. Ensure all statutory regulations (e.g. Health & Safety, COSHH, Infection Control etc) are implemented and adhered to

To promote a professional approach at all times by attire and attitude to patients and staff both in and out of the Practice

Participation in an annual individual performance review, including taking responsibility for maintaining a record of own personal and/or professional development

Attend and participate in staff and Practice meetings and in-house clinical training sessions

Taking responsibility for own development, learning and performance and demonstrating skills and activities to others who are undertaking similar work

Any other reasonable duties that may be required from time-to-time
