Job summary

Central Medical Centre in Coventry is looking for a Salaried GP for 4 sessions per week (Tuesday PM, Thursday PM, Friday AM & PM).

This is a part-time role within a small, well-structured practice, offering a calm and manageable working environment. You will have the opportunity to deliver high-quality, patient-centred care with good continuity, while being supported by an experienced and approachable team.

Main duties of the job

The role involves routine GP consultations (face-to-face and telephone), clinical assessment and management of patients, prescribing, and decision-making.

You will review test results, process clinical correspondence, make referrals where appropriate, and maintain accurate patient records. The role also includes working collaboratively with the wider team to ensure safe and effective patient care.

You will contribute to maintaining safe clinical standards, participate in practice meetings where appropriate, and support continuity of care for patients. There may also be opportunities to develop areas of clinical interest and contribute to service improvement within the practice.

Central Medical Centre is a well-established GP practice in Foleshill, Coventry, with a list size of approximately 3,500 patients.

Job description

Job responsibilities

  • The delivery of highly effective medical care to the entitled population
  • The provision of services commensurate with the GMS contract
  • Generic prescribing adhering to local and national guidance
  • Effective management of long-term conditions
  • Processing of administration in a timely manner, including referrals, repeat prescription requests and other associated administrative tasks
  • On a rotational basis, undertake telephone triage and duty doctor roles
  • Maintain accurate clinical records in conjunction with good practice, policy and guidance
  • Work collaboratively, accepting an equal share of the practice workload
  • Adhere to best practice recommended through clinical guidelines and the audit process
  • Contribute to the successful implementation of continuous improvement and quality initiatives within the practice
  • Accept delegated responsibility for a specific area (or areas) or the QOF
  • Attend and contribute effectively to practice meetings as required
  • Contribute effective to the development and maintenance of the practice including clinical governance and training
  • Ensure compliance with the appraisal process
  • Support the training of medical students from all clinical disciplines
  • Support the partners in achieving the strategic aims of the practice, making recommendations to enhance income and reduce expenditure
  • Review and always adhere to practice protocols and policies
  • Encourage collaborative working, liaising with all staff regularly, always promoting a culture of continuous improvement

In addition to the primary responsibilities, the salaried GP may be requested to:

  • Participate in practice audits as requested by the audit lead
  • Participate in local initiatives to enhance service delivery and patient care
  • Participate in the review of significant and near-miss events applying a structured approach i.e., root cause analysis (RCA)
