Job summary

The Lead Practice Nurse oversees clinical nursing services within a primary care setting, ensuring high standards of patient care and clinical practice. Key responsibilities include managing long-term conditions (e.g. diabetes, asthma, COPD), supervising immunisations and cervical screening, leading infection control and health & safety protocols, and mentoring nursing staff. The role involves coordinating clinical audits, maintaining quality assurance, supporting multidisciplinary collaboration, and contributing to service development. Strong leadership, clinical expertise, and effective communication are essential, along with current NMC registration and relevant experience in general practice.

Main duties of the job

In this hands-on role, youll deliver high-quality patient care including cytology, wound and ulcer management, suture removal, Doppler assessments, new patient medicals, urinalysis, travel health advice, contraception reviews, immunisations, and chaperoning. Experience in venepuncture is desirable. Youll also manage long-term conditions such as diabetes, asthma, and COPD, request pathology tests, and follow clinical protocols with appropriate referrals.

Youll play a key role in maintaining clinical standards overseeing infection control, PPE, specimen handling, and ensuring compliance with national safety guidelines. Youll help keep our practice running smoothly by managing equipment, stock rotation, vaccination ordering, and participating in admin and team meetings.

About us

Stamford Hill Group Practice is seeking anexperienced Practice Nursewho can offer a full range of nursing services.Previous experience in a GP Surgery is essential.You would be working alongside another practice nurse, a specialist diabetes nurse, and a health care assistant.

We have 5 GP Partners, 5 Salaried GPs, a Practice Nurse, 3 Clinical Pharmacists, paramedic, 1 HCA and an FCP. Within our PCN, we serve a population over 40,000 and have full access to ARRS staff including social prescribers, pharmacist, paramedics, ANPs and FCPs
