Job summary

Part time to assist in the assessment, treatment care for patients presenting in the practice Assist practice nurses with management of both acute and chronic conditions, Implement and participate in flu vaccinations and B12 Injection programmes. Meet the needs of patients presenting for opportunistic wound care Assist in minor surgery as appropriate to level of competency Measuring and recording blood pressure, pulse rate and rhythm, temperature, height and weight, body mass index, peak flow and its calculation

Perform ECGs

Blood glucose monitoring

Perform Venepuncture.

Ensure clinical area and clinical treatment rooms are clean and well stocked.

Support clinicians in providing minor surgery.

If Care certificate not currently complete be willing to work towards this qualification.

Main duties of the job

Clinical skills

  • Competent in taking ECGs, BP readings and Venepuncutre.

  • Skilled in undertaking health checks, and capturing patient information.

  • Basic understanding of long term conditions.

Support patients to adopt health promotion strategies that promote healthy lifestyles, and apply principles of self-care

  • Minimum GCSE grade C or above in English and Maths (or equivalent)

Desirable

  • *NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent)
  • *RCGP HCA Competency, Care certificate
  • * Qualified Phlebtomy.

Experience

  • Experienced working to protocols and clinical guidelines
  • Experience of independent and team working
  • Significant previous HCA experience

Desirable

  • * Experience working within primary care.
