Job summary

Alnwick Medical Group in Northumberland is excited to announce the position of Salaried GP with Fellowship if applicable.

Permanent - Full/Part Time 6-8 Sessions

The successful candidate will manage a caseload and deal with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standards of care for all registered and temporary patients. Responsibilities will reflect requirements of the NHS GP Contracts, and as such may be subject to change as services adapt. Clinical responsibilities:

In accordance with the practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will make him/her-self available to undertake a variety of duties including surgery face to face, telephone and online consultations and queries, visiting patients at home

To be able to make professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation.

Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed.

Main duties of the job

Main duties of this role would be :

The delivery of highly effective medical care to the entitled population

The provision of services commensurate with the GMS/PMS contract

Generic prescribing adhering to local and national guidance

Undertake telephone triage and patient facing appointments,

Maintain accurate clinical records in conjunction with good practice, policy and guidance

Working collaboratively, with wider MDT.

Adhere to best practice recommended through clinical guidelines and the audit process

Contribute to the successful implementation of continuous improvement within the practice

Accept delegated responsibility for a specific clinical area (or areas)

Attend and contribute effectively to practice meetings as required

Commit to self-learning and continuing professional development

Support the training of medical students from all clinical disciplines

Support the Partners and Management Team in achieving the strategic aims of the practice.

Confidentiality

Ensures self-compliance with data protection laws and confidentiality agreements

Health & Safety

Follows Alnwick Medical Group policies and procedures relating to health and safety

Mitigates risks to employee and patient health and safety by contributing to risk assessments, escalating concerns and ensures adequate training in all areas of their role.

Effectively communicates with patients and colleagues

Comfortably and confidently communicates verbally, as well as written methods including email.

Job description

Job responsibilities

  • Provide high quality patient care including prevention, screening, treatment, management of chronic conditions and health promotion

  • Develop care and treatment plans in consultation with patients and in line with current Practice protocols as well as wider guidance e.g. NICE

  • Carry out surgery, telephone and video consultations and undertake home visits

  • Speak and see patients promptly and in a timely manner. In order to minimise waiting times.

  • Ensure appropriate follow up of patients

  • Generate, check and sign acute and repeat prescriptions in-line with practice policy

  • Liaise with other team members and organisations involved in patient care and respond promptly to queries

  • Investigate and refer patients as appropriate in line with current guidance

  • Assist with the training of other staff members and also with the education of doctors and nurses in training as appropriate
