Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust provides a range of community health services for both physical and mental health conditions, as well as a range of specialist services supporting people of all ages including family and young people services, mental health, learning disabilities and physical health community and inpatient services.

We deliver services to the people of Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. Our 5500 staff serve a population of one million from over 100 sites across the region.


The Leicestershire Forensic Mental Health Service provides a high quality service to mentally disordered and personality disordered offenders in both community and inpatient settings. The Psychology Team within the Forensic Mental Health Service provides an assessment and intervention service to the 12 bedded male low secure unit. Assessment and intervention is also provided to individuals in the community who are assessed as having a mental disorder and to pose a risk of serious offending. The psychology service is pivotal to the high level of service provided to these client groups.

We are seeking a qualified psychologist to work alongside an experienced forensic psychologist. This is an exciting opportunity for the post holder to work with both the inpatient and community teams of the Leicester Forensic Mental Health Service. Typically the patient group presents with a variety of challenging behaviours and complex treatment issues, including offending, personality disorder, mental illness, substance use and history of trauma. The post holder would also be able to gain experience of working with both male and female service users.

There will be opportunities for the post holder to conduct assessments, structured interventions and group work, as well as duties including research and audit.

Applicants should have experience of working with service users with mental health problems and registered with the HCPC. Experience of working with individuals who present a risk to the public, and who may present with challenging behaviours, is essential as is experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team.

The psychology service is very supportive with regular provision of individual and peer supervision. Strong links are established with local services to enhance the opportunities for peer supervision and support.

Clinical supervision and opportunities for CPD will be provided.

The psychology department has strong links with local clinical and forensic psychologists, with psychologists working in different levels of security, and with local universities.
