Lincoln Renal Unit - Haemodialysis

1 post - 37.5 hours per week over 4 days (3 x10 hours + 1 x 7.5 hours)

or 30 hours (3 x 10 hours) considered

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated, enthusiastic and committed nurse to share in providing a quality service to our renal patients on haemodialysis.

Previous experience in dialysis desirable but not essential as in-house training programme and mentorship available to successful candidate. At least one year of post registration experience in nursing acute inpatients desirable but not essential.

The Post Holder will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating nursing care to patients undergoing haemodialysis on the outpatient and inpatient dialysis units. Assist and contribute in the management and organisation of the clinical setting. Contribute to setting and maintaining high standards of quality nursing care. Participate in the education, development and supervision of other staff members. Act as a clinical and professional role model, assessing and supporting students and learners on placement within the clinical setting. Work collaboratively and co-operatively with others to meet the needs of patients and their families.

We require a Registered Nurse who has, or is working towards, a recognised teaching and assessing qualification or the equivalent, & has evidence of Continuing Professional development. We require a willingness to undertake new clinical practices, education and training that will enhance service delivery and to have the ability to perform the full range of nursing duties.

We require the ability to decision make and prioritise clinical patient workload and to use initiative. Experience of acting as a Mentor, Assessor and Support for learners within the ward or unit is desirable.

Essential qualities are good communication skills, diplomacy, basic IT skills, flexibility, the ability to work well within a busy multidisciplinary team.

The post is full time worked flexibly over 4 days per week 0700-2300 Monday to Saturday. Part time hours will be considered working flexibly 3 x 10 hour shifts 0730-1830 or 1200-2300 Monday to Saturday.

Please note that the Renal Unit at Lincoln County Hospital is managed by University Hospitals of Leicester NHS trust. Some travel to Leicester hospital for training will be required.
