CONSULTANT IN ANAESTHESIA AND INTENSIVE CARE MEDICINE

with an interest in Cardiothoracic Anaesthesia

Based at the Glenfield Hospital Site

Applications are invited for whole-time or part-time consultant in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care Medicine with a specialist interest in cardiothoracic anaesthesia

We are seeking a highly trained individual committed to Anaesthesia and Intensive Care Medicine. Applicants must hold a CCT in Anaesthesia or be within 6 months of obtaining this at the time of interview. Significant experience in both the management of cardiothoracic surgical patients and echocardiography is essential as is recent experience of acute cardiorespiratory medicine and cardiothoracic intensive care.

One substantive replacement post appointment is sought which will bring the team in Intensive care up to 10 whole time Consultants at Glenfield hospital, UHL. The critical care unit is funded for 21 level 3 beds admitting in excess of 1500 patients per year and is one of only 5 centres in the UK designated for the provision of adult ECMO.

Following planned service reconfiguration in UHL, it is expected that the unit will expand to 33 beds admitting in excess of 2000 patients per year.

The successful applicant will be expected to make a significant contribution to the continued development of anaesthesia and critical care services in UHL They will be required to undertake management duties, undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and clinical audit at activity at Glenfield Hospital.

The University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust consists of three acute teaching hospitals serving the population of Leicestershire and the wider region. It is fully committed to Continuing Medical Education for Consultants.
