Infection Prevention Advanced Nurse specialist - Community / Education lead.

A post has become available in the York Teaching Hospitals Foundation Trust Infection Prevention & Control Team (IPCT). We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic Band 7 Advanced Nurse Specialist to join the team and have responsibility for our community sites and act as an educational lead developing educational strategies and programmes for Infection Prevention throughout the Trust. For this post the successful candidate must hold a recognised qualification in infection prevention and hold an ENB 998 or equivalent educational qualification.

Reporting to the Lead Nurse for Infection Prevention the successful candidate will work both autonomously and as part of the IPC team across our community sites, striving to minimise risk from healthcare associated infection. The post will support, develop and implement systems to improve the quality of infection prevention and control management, by the delivery of national directives to develop local quality, patient safety and safe systems of working for staff. You must have good organisational skills and the ability to influence others.

The successful candidate will be based in York but with overall responsibility for providing Infection Prevention support to five community hospital sites and district nursing teams. Due to the large geographical site that needs be covered the ability to transport yourself and equipment across the locality during the course of a normal working day is required for this vacancy.

The successful candidate will need to be self-motivated and have a flexible approach to work, acting as a role model across disciplines. You will provide clear leadership for infection prevention across the site, influencing and improving the quality of care delivered to our patients, providing support to acute sites when required.

You must demonstrate excellent communication skills and be computer literate. Working hours are Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm, we provide a 24 hour on call service and there is a requirement to participate in this rota.

DBS Checks

Please be aware that all new employees starting work with us will be charged for the cost of their DBS check if it is required for the role. The cost will be deducted from your salary either in 1 payment or over a six month period once you start employment. By applying you are agreeing to this undertaking.
