Where admin saves lives

NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) aims to be the best donation service in the world for blood, organs, tissues and stem cells. SHOT, which stands for Serious Hazards of Transfusion, is a scheme that positively influences patient safety in the UK and overseas. Since 1996 we have been collecting and analysing information on adverse events and reactions in blood transfusion from UK healthcare organisations, and sharing our findings.

This is a small team with big impact, and your administrative skills will be vital to the success of our work. In this varied role you can expect to be instrumental in the organisation of events such as the annual SHOT Symposium. You will be very involved in the production of our Annual Report. You will also manage our office systems, act as PA to the SHOT Medical Director and SHOT Operations Manager, and work with our data analyst to maintain vital data-capture systems.

Highly organised and able to work on your own initiative, you’ll possess sound administrative or secretarial skills. Expert in the use of MS Office software packages such as Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint, you’ll be ready to produce a variety of reports and presentations. And, as you’ll be working with clinical data, as well as departmental budgets, you’ll need to be numerate. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are, of course, vital.

NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) offers a dynamic and friendly working environment where teamwork is highly valued. Personal development is also considered a priority and is supported through extensive training and development opportunities open to all employees.

Three small words, one big difference - Caring, Expert and Quality.

Together we'll save and improve more lives than ever
