Tissue Bank Support Worker

Job Reference: 918-HX4872

Employer:
NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT)
Department:
Tissue and Eye Services
Location:
Liverpool
Salary:
£17,652 to £19,020 pa

You’ll play a vital supporting role in our Liverpool Tissue Bank – the centre that supplies hospitals nationally with tissues required to save and improve patients lives.

Working as part of a team in our laboratories your job will be to clean laboratory equipment and storage areas to ensure a clean, sterile environment for us to process, store and release tissue grafts and implants.

You’ll ideally have experience of working in a laboratory, hospital or catering environment and an interest in science, however this is not essential for this role. You’ll definitely need all-round team-working skills including the ability to motivate yourself and other people; good communication skills; accurate record-keeping and the ability to prioritise your work – even when the pressure is on.

There’s some lifting involved, so you’ll need to be prepared to do this; you’ll also need to work in low temperatures (when cleaning our freezer areas) and with chemicals such as dry ice or liquid nitrogen. You will also need to work in a sterile clean room environment, keeping your area clean and wearing protective overalls, gloves, masks, hoods and boots.

You will be working 5 days a week, Monday to Friday, working one of the following shift patterns. Start time of 07:00 – 15:15, 08:00 – 16:15 or 09:45 – 18:00.

For any further enquiries please contact Jess Hall on Jessica.hall@nhsbt.nhs.uk or 0151 268 7052.
