Quality Officer

Job Reference: 918-QA4709

NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT)
QA Direct
£30,401 to £37,267 pa

NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) is an integral and vital part of the NHS, dedicated to saving and improving lives through the wide range of services we provide. Our purpose is to save and improve lives. We are responsible for optimising the safety and supply of blood, organs, stem cells and tissues and matching them to patients and helping to raise the quality, effectiveness and clinical outcomes of blood and transplant services. To support these activities, it is essential that we work within an efficient and effective Quality Management System.

We are currently seeking a Quality Assurance Officer to join our Quality Assurance Team within the QA Directorate. The role of the Quality Assurance Officer is to provide advice and support in the use of our quality systems. The Quality Assurance Officer will also assist in monitoring our quality system on a day-to-day basis, ensuring that all licensing and accreditation activities are undertaken as they should be. The Quality Officer will support the delivery of essential training to staff and monitor quality system performance across the organisation (including Blood Supply, Diagnostic and Therapeutic Services). A key activity will be the facilitation and management of the Incident Management system, in collaboration with the Clinical Governance team, and the engagement of internal and external business users.

The role will initially be to support the site based team and report to the QA Manager (QAM). There are plans to implement a national QA Direct team, whereby this post will then report to the National QA Manager – Service Delivery (NQAM-SD). The role will remain as above, but will provide remote support to the organisation nationally, rather than supporting just the local sites.

Desirably educated to degree level, you'll need to demonstrate additional training and experience in Quality Management, having a good understanding of quality systems and experience within a structured quality assurance environment. Add to that excellent interpersonal skills and you could be our ideal candidate.

NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) offers a dynamic and friendly working environment where teamwork is highly valued. Personal development is also considered a priority and is supported through extensive training and development opportunities open to all employees.

We’re an inclusive organisation that reflects the diverse communities we work with and positively encourage applications from all sectors of the community.

Three small words, one big difference - Caring, Expert and Quality.

Together we'll save and improve more lives than ever
