We are looking to provide a walk in service for patients that are under 18 years between 7.30am -11.30am (20 hours) Monday-Friday for the registered patients of Hattersley Group Practice. The role can potentially be extended into a full time role as part of a portfolio within the organisation or within the practice.

The role is initially a pilot for 12 months so will require someone who is able to work proactively to promote and develop the service and be able to audit and provide evidence of added quality and access for the patient population.

This is an exciting opportunity for you to be involved in a new initiative and changing health outcomes for a patient population.

You will have autonomy in how this service is provided whilst being able to utilise your clinical skills. All of our clinicians are provided with CPD/Leadership hours within their roles. You will:

  • Be a team player working closely with the practice team whilst able to work autonomously to make clinical decisions for the patients in your care
  • Have the ability to fully assess/manage and treat patients 18 years or under.
  • Be supervising and supporting trainee practitioners
  • Be supporting junior members of staff if required
  • Have a knowledge of safeguarding issues
  • Have experience in same day presentations for this cohort of patients.

Most importantly you will be supported by the practice team and a clinical lead and locality lead to develop this service and to develop within the workplace and organisation. There will be scope explore/develop a portfolio role within the company if desired (services can be seen in the summary below).  Although this is a pilot initially it is expected that this service will continue if successful and there will be opportunities for you to use your skills within the organisation or the practice. The role incudes a generous CPD entitlement to ensure development in practice and how you use this time is flexible and negotiable with your clinical lead and manager.

The post holder will hold either an MSC in Advanced Practice or be working towards RCN credentialing accreditation or if a senior clinical practitioner will hold a recognised clinical skills course at level 6/7 and ideally be a prescriber, you will within your professional boundaries assess diagnose, treat and provide advice, care and management for urgent and primary care patients, with diagnosed or undiagnosed undifferentiated illness. You will Support the delivery of policy and procedures, and provide leadership as required.

The clinician will act as a positive role model supporting junior staff whist working flexibly to provide safe clinical expert care. This clinician working in this role will demonstrate critical thinking and will be key to supporting clinical work across the wider healthcare team to meet the needs of patients.
