Inpatient Medical Secretary

Monday – Friday 37.5 hrs

An opportunity has arisen for a permanent Band 3 Inpatient Medical Secretary at The Willows & Stewart House for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual who excels under pressure.

The Willows is a 38 bedded unit for adults who have severe and enduring mental health problems. The focus of the unit is to assist patients in regaining the skills to enable them to optimise their level of functioning prior to discharge into a community setting. The Willows has a well-established Multi-disciplinary team including site based medical, occupational therapy and psychology.

Stewart House is a 30 bedded unit divided into 2 wings (15 male and 15 female) they have the same admission criteria as the Willows and their patient population is also the same, however they also take patients who have complex physical healthcare needs and can also accommodate wheelchair users due to the flat location and accessibility

The successful candidate should have good computer and audio skills, demonstrate they can work accurately, have excellent written and verbal communication skills, be proactive and have a willingness to learn. You will be flexible and used to working to tight deadlines. You will have excellent interpersonal skills a positive and pleasant manner.

You need to demonstrate the ability to work as part of a team and be able to act on your own initiative. You also need to demonstrate your ability to prioritise your workload and work in an organised and effective manner.

You will provide a comprehensive secretarial and administrative service to the inpatient Consultants and medical team. You will establish and maintain good communication links with wards, clinical teams and other secretaries. Maintaining effective practices to ensure that all areas of the role are maintained within the service delivery timescales required whilst operating within a busy and demanding environment. Patience and a caring approach are important personal qualities for all members of the team, including the administration staff.
