Lay Member - Commercial

Mid Essex CCG is looking to recruit a Lay member to sit on its Board and work with other Board members on all aspects of the CCG’s business.

As a Lay Member, you will bring external expertise and experience to the work of the Board and provide strategic and impartial advice. You will also have shared responsibility with the rest of the Board for ensuring that the CCG exercises its functions effectively, efficiently, economically, with good governance and in accordance with the terms of the CCG’s constitution.

Interested applicants are invited to attend an Open Evening for prospective Lay and GP Board members on Thursday 1 February from 7.00 pm to 8.30 pm at Wren House, Hedgerows Business Park, Colchester Road, Chelmsford CM2 5PF.

Some individuals are excluded from being Board and/or Lay members under The National Health Service (Clinical Commissioning Groups) Regulations 2012, including individuals who:

  • Are not eligible to work in the UK

  • Have received a prison sentence or suspended sentence of 3 months or more in the last 5 years

  • Are the subject of a bankruptcy restriction or order or interim order

  • Are under a disqualification order under the Company Directors Disqualification Act 1986

  • Have been removed from trusteeship of a charity

  • Have been dismissed (except by redundancy) by any NHS body

  • Are a member or employee or contractor of a local authority

  • Are a chairman, director, member or employee of the Department of Health or an NHS body

  • Are a member or employee of the Care Quality Commission

  • Are a provider of any services commissioned by the CCG
