The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Trust (RNOH) provides a comprehensive range of neuro-musculoskeletal health care, ranging from the most acute spinal injury or complex bone tumour to orthopaedic medicine and specialist rehabilitation for chronic back pain sufferers. This broad range of neuro-musculoskeletal services is unique within the NHS.

We are looking to appoint a Communications Officer to support the national Getting it Right First Time (GIRFT) Programme.

Skilled communication is essential to the GIRFT programme and you will work as part of the stakeholder engagement and communications team in providing information about the work of the programme to a range of audiences including hospital trusts, other NHS bodies, public and community stakeholders, and to our staff.

The programme works across 35 surgical and medical specialties as part of a partnership between the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Trust and NHS Improvement to deliver recommendations in Lord Carter’s report (February 2016) to improve the quality and efficiency of patient care by identifying and reducing unwarranted variation in acute trusts.

The Communications Officer will have sound experience of media monitoring and dealing with enquiries, producing newsletters and publicity materials, and producing and managing the content for our website, and social media channels. You will support event management and marketing campaigns, including compiling and managing databases. You will have excellent written and oral skills, the ability to work under pressure and to strict deadlines. Excellent knowledge in Microsoft Office applications, is also key to the role, and the ability to be flexible and manage conflicting deadlines is essential.

The payscale for this post is AFC band 6, if your base of work is Central London then an additional £5,313 per annum London Weighting will apply.
