Clinical Fellow FY2 & ST1/2 Level – General Medicine

Great Western Hospital, Swindon

Applications are invited for Clinical Fellow FY2 & ST1/2 level posts in general medicine. We are looking for candidates to work in general medicine, acute medicine, geriatric medicine and our short stay unit. Rotations will be created for the postholder in these areas. These posts enable the postholder to gain clinical experience in general medicine and offers learning opportunities through our dedicated Medical Education Team. The posts will commenceas soon as possiblefor a period of 11 months.

Posts in acute medicine will be part of the full shift rota. Some of the other rotations may have the opportunity to be part of a full shift rota which will include evenings, nights and weekends. Posts will attract pay enhancements as per the rota according to the rota worked.

If you have an interest in Leadership and Management and would like to do a formal qualification there may be an opportunity to do this whilst undertaking this role. The Trust supports the Health, Economics, Leadership Management Programme (HELM) and is committed to supporting those Doctors who are keen to learn more about NHS Management.

The successful candidate will have a study leave allowance which includes up to 30 days leave and £500 funding per year. Although the posts are not formally recognised for training; there will be the opportunity to attend the internal teaching programmes and you will be assigned an Educational Supervisor.

Swindon is a thriving town set between the Cotswolds to the North and West, the Upper Thames valley to the East and the Marlborough Downs to the South. Other cultural opportunities abound in London, Bristol and Oxford all of which are within one hour by car with easy links by public transport. The rail journey to London Paddington from Swindon is approximately 55 minutes and Heathrow Airport is only an hour away from Swindon by car.

There are beautiful villages with affordable housing in the surrounding rural areas of Wiltshire, the Cotswolds and Marlborough. Marlborough is a bustling market town located in the Savernake Forest only 10 miles away from Swindon and offers excellent housing with renowned educational institutions and Cirencester, capital of the Cotswolds, is only twenty miles away with picturesque lakes and excellent housing.

Current employees should be aware that this position is advertised as a GWH position and appointment ends any TUPE protection.

All candidates are required to pay for their own DBS check where applicable. Standard DBS check costs £26 and will be recovered from your first pay; Enhanced DBS check costs £44 and will be split and recovered over the first 2 pay.

Bank posts requiring a DBS check; payment must be made prior to commencing.

Apprentices are exempt from payment.
