Band 7 CCN Clinical Educator - Job Advert

We are looking for an experienced Community Children’s Nurse to take on this exciting new role as clinical educator within our integrated CCN service.

The Clinical Educator will be a key role within the skill mixed Children’s Community Nursing (CCN) service. As part of the clinical leadership team within this specialist service provided in Southampton and West Hampshire localities, the Clinical Educator will work closely with the Clinical Matron and Clinical Team Co-ordinator to ensure the delivery of high quality nursing care as part of a safe, comprehensive and sustainable CCN service (DH 2011). They will lead on training, clinical skills and the education/development of Specialist Practitioner CCNs.

 

As an experienced CCN and Specialist Practitioner, the CCN Clinical Educator will hold a caseload and continue to work clinically within the team, while having protected time to fulfill the Clinical Educator role.

The CCN service consists of passionate and dedicated CCN, Special School Nursing and Continuing Care teams who work collaboratively with children, young people (CYP) and families within the wider multi-disciplinary team to ensure care is provided within the community wherever possible. We provide high quality and holistic, family centred care to CYP with a nursing need across Southampton and Hampshire area including those with;

  • Acute and short-term conditions

  • Long term conditions

  • Disabilities, complex conditions, those requiring continuing care and neonates

  • Life-limiting and life-threatening illness, including those requiring palliative and end of life care

    You will need to hold the CCN Specialist Practitioner Qualification, have evidence of Masters level study/qualification, have experience of clinical leadership, caseload management, line management and supervision as well as significant experience of teaching/supporting learners in practice. Ideally you will hold a Practice Teacher qualification, or be willing to undertake the required modules upon appointment to the post.

    As a Senior Nurse within the service, you will have the opportunity to shape and lead, responding to the ever changing needs of the families we care for as well as the staff who support them. You will have a key role in leading care planning, training and multi-disciplinary liaison for CYP with a range of needs within their home, school and wider community settings.

    This opportunity will provide experience of working with CYP and families in the community setting as well as the chance to transfer a wide range of clinical skills. This role will also enable you to further develop your leadership and management skills within the team. If you have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to lead as a team player, as well as the initiative to work autonomously and effectively this could be the challenge for you. You should have good organisational skills and evidence of continued professional development.
