An opportunity has arisen for one individual to join our collegiate team as Locum Consultant within the Department of Older People’s Medicine. Newcastle is proud to be a leading clinical and academic centre for ageing and geriatrics. We have a strong focus on innovation, research and driving quality of care for older people. As such, we are looking for dynamic geriatricians who are passionate about innovation and will work well within a progressive team of 17 Geriatricians. The Department of Older People’s Medicine is committed to service improvement and development, and the post holder will play a key role in shaping new ways of working. This post is from 4th August 2019 and for up to 8 months, to cover maternity leave, and is for 9 PA.

Newcastle is the first Teaching Hospital in the UK to be awarded ‘outstanding’ status by the CQC. Newcastle is also home to the world-renowned Institute of Ageing, the new National Innovation Centre for Ageing and the NIHR awarded Biomedical Research Centre for Ageing and Age-Related Diseases. Newly appointed individuals would be welcomed to our integrated academic and clinical community and will also have the opportunity to contribute to and develop teaching, audit and research. The 9 PA post will consist of acute geriatrics and rehabilitation/community services. We welcome approaches and applications from applicants who would like to work less than full time.

You will possess MRCP or equivalent, and have previous demonstrable experience of working in rehabilitation, general geriatric medicine and general internal medicine. You must be a registered medical practitioner and will be on the Specialist Registers for Geriatric Medicine and General Internal Medicine.
