An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapist to join Cardiorespiratory Clinical Decisions Unit at Glenfield Hospital, University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust.

University Hospitals Leicester is one of the biggest and busiest NHS Trusts in the country, serving the one million residents of Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland – and increasingly specialist services over a much wider area. Our nationally and internationally-renowned specialist treatment and services in cardio-respiratory diseases, cancer and renal disorders reach a further two to three million patients from the rest of the country.

We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Occupational Therapist to work within our newly reconfigured cardiorespiratory Clinical Decisions Unit. The role would be suited to a current Band 7 or an experienced Band 6. This is a newly created post where you will be expected to lead a small team within the context of the wider therapy team, and work alongside a team of physiotherapists. You be expected to provide comprehensive assessments and treatments to patients presenting with a wide range of cardiorespiratory conditions and will also include facilitating discharge. You will also get the experience to work within the vascular and renal services.

You will be part of a friendly, supportive and proactive team, with a full induction and mentorship programme, CPD and service development. Audit and research are strongly encouraged and supported by the Therapy Research Audit and Service Evaluation (TRASE) group.

The successful applicant will work alongside the Therapy Clinical Team Leaders, Clinical Specialists, other therapists and the multidisciplinary team to provide optimum patient care and the effective, efficient working of the teams ensuring on going service development. You provide supervision and teaching to therapists, including conducting appraisals and sickness reviews.

The Occupational Therapy Department provides a seven day rostered service and the successful candidate will work on the weekend and bank holiday rosters.

We will close vacancies prior to the published closing date if we receive a sufficient number of application forms.
