Surrey Downs CCG hosts the Individual Funding Request (IFR) service for 5 Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) across Surrey. The IFR Panel considers applications that have been submitted on the grounds of either clinical exceptionality or rarity.

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the IFR team for a Panel Chair. The role of the IFR Panel Chair involves ensuring that the approved IFR policies, processes and procedures by the CCG(s) are followed by the IFR Panel, and to ensure that the decision making process of the IFR Panel is equitable and transparent, in accordance with principles and values set out in the NHS Constitution 2012.

The post holder must have demonstrable qualities, skills and experience to meet all the essential criteria for appointment. The work of the IFR Panel is sensitive in nature and the Chair should be analytical, articulate and able to carry authority, as well as being well equipped to deal with the challenges of working with emotive issues. The IFR Panel can be involved in making difficult decisions regarding the availability of services to patients and as such, the Chair should be experienced at managing debate.
