An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly skilled and experienced HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist to join our friendly and dedicated team based at the University Hospitals of Leicester.

The laboratory handles approximately 65,000 surgical histology and non-gynae cytology cases per annum and provides a wide range of specialist tests. The service is expanding Biomedical Scientist dissection and has Consultant Biomedical Scientists reporting alongside Histopathologists.

The successful candidate will have proven experience in routine and specialist Histopathology techniques, be willing to work flexibly and able to motivate and drive forward a team carrying out diagnostic work on a wide range of sample types. They must be able to demonstrate experience of techniques associated with A-C category specimen dissection.

You must have successfully completed the IBMS Specialist Diploma and hold either an MSc or FIBMS. You must also be able demonstrate some management / leadership experience either practically or through study leading to qualification or attendance at appropriate training events. A successful candidate without the IBMS Higher Specialist Diplomas would be expected to study for and obtain this qualification and participate in the dissection of category A-C specimens on a regular basis.

The department is approved for training by the IBMS/HCPC.
