UHL is one of the largest teaching hospital trusts in England, serving a regional, national, and international population. We serve the one million residents of Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland and specialist services over a much wider area.

Applications are invited for enthusiastic and highly motivated Locum Consultants in Anaesthesia to join our expanding team at the Leicester Royal Infirmary and Leicester General Hospital. This is a full time post for 12 months initially (4 posts)

The scope of surgical practice at the hospitals offers exciting and varied clinical opportunities for consultant anaesthetists and there is continued support for non-clinical professional activities both inside and outside the trust.

Leicester Royal infirmary is a large acute hospital with a busy emergency department. There are opportunities for the successful candidate to deliver clinical care on emergency and trauma lists and gain further experience and expertise in a variety of specialities, including upper and lower GI surgery, maxillofacial and ENT, plastics and ophthalmology. The successful candidates will support the current establishment of NHS and academic staff contributing to the on-call rota, and provide senior anaesthetic cover for elective, emergency and trauma surgery.

UHL is fully committed to continuing medical education for consultants. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to departmental quality improvement activity and the clinical supervision of postgraduate trainees in Anaesthesia. The UHL Department of Anaesthesia is committed to working towards the Anaesthesia Clinical Services Accreditation scheme of the Royal College of Anaesthetists.
