NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) is a world leader in delivering a safe and sufficient supply of blood, as well as tissues and solid organs. Each year our donors give around two million donations of blood and 3,500 organs – saving and transforming countless lives.

Our IT helps us support Blood Donation and Organ Transplantation safely from end to end, from donation through to manufacturing, processing and transfusion/transplantation. We’re constantly seeking new ways to increase productivity and efficiency, and that means rethinking the way we use IT to deliver a better experience for donors, hospital customers, partners and staff.

NHS Blood and Transplant has an exciting opportunity for an Oracle PL/SQL Developer to join our in-house development team working in a friendly and progressive environment based in Bristol.

The successful Developer will be responsible for the analysis, design and development of new and existing applications. You’ll have good communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently and creatively when resolving problems.  The candidate must have a passion for innovation and a can-do attitude to creating new software systems.

Key technical skills for the role:

-          Oracle 11g+ PL/SQL & SQL

-          Data modelling (in relational databases)

-          XML, JSON

-          JavaScript

-          Knowledge of full software development life-cycle

-          Experience of working with Agile tools and methods

-          Strategise and lead discussions and proposals

-          Mentor Systems Developer(s) as part of their day-to-day role

-          Own technical solutions and present it for approval at Architecture and/or Technical Leadership Group forums

Experience of the following would be advantageous:

-          Oracle 12c

-          Oracle REST Data Services

-          PL/SQL Web Toolkit

-          Java

-          Oracle APEX

-          Git

-          Integration especially Mulesoft Anypoint

-          IBM Business Process Manager (BPM)

-          IBM Operational Decision Manager (ODM)

-          SAFe Agile methodology

-          SQL Server
